- Beijing Black Buzzard Aviation Technology Limited, a small Chinese company, offers for sale two new models of UAVs. The HFT-40A weighs 100 pounds, is ten feet long, with a 6.5 foot wingspan. It has a top speed of 500 kilometers an hour, max endurance of three hours and can operate 80 kilometers from its base station.
The HFT-60A weighs 198 pounds, is 11 feet long, with a seven foot wingspan. It has a top speed of 700 kilometers an hour, endurance of three hours and can operate 150 kilometers from its base station.
- ITL Optronics, Israel-based company, offers its Lightener hand-launched mini-UAV for close-range surveillance and reconnaissance operations. It has an endurance of three hours.
- Textron Inc., a U.S. corporation based in Providence, offers Shadow drones from its recently acquired subsidiary United Industrial.

Market research company Forecast International predicts, in its recently released report "The Market for UAV Reconnaissance Systems", that the total UAV market
including air vehicles, ground control equipment and payloads is expected to be worth $13.6 billion through 2014. The world market for UAVs in 2000 represented
only $2.4 billion. By 2007, this amount is estimated to reach nearly $5.6 billion. More than 9,000 UAVs are expected to be purchased over the next 10 years by
